Musikfest began in 1984, and started as a small festival in little-known Bethlehem, PA. Since then, the event has grown in both size and reputation, attracting more than a million people from all over the country. The festival is held by ArtsQuest, a nonprofit organization that celebrates art and culture, and is generally held every year at the end of July and beginning of August.
Music Featured At Musikfest
The festival has 14 indoor and outdoor stages to choose from, and thus, features an assortment of musical performances such as country, rap, gospel, Latin, pop, Christian, and rock. Concerts are given throughout the entire festival. Typically, the festival includes about 300 performers.
Though admission to most of the stages is free, a few stages do cost to attend. Tickets can be bought for these performances early on in May. Cost varies depending on the artist. Past performances have included Clay Aiken, Stone Temple Pilots, Steve Miller Band, and the Dixie Chicks.
Games and Other Entertainment
Musikfest provides entertainment for children and adults alike. There is a children's area where kids can color, play a variety of games, make arts and crafts, and ride go-karts. In addition, visitors can take a paddle boat out to explore the beauty of Bethlehem. To further entertain your kids, take them to the fireworks show put on the last day of Musikfest.
Food Available And How To Buy It
Though it can be expensive, the food at Musikfest is half of the reason to attend. Seasoned corn on the cob, barbecue chicken, ice cream, smoothies, pulled pork sandwiches, and chocolate covered strawberries are just a few of the choices typically available. In addition, alcohol such as fruity frozen drinks is also available. Beer is often the favorite, however, and festival goers will see many visitors walking around with large, refillable Musikfest mugs filled to the brim with their favorite beer.

Entrance to Musikfest is free, but food, games, souvenirs, and certain performances cost extra. Tickets are generally used to purchase food and play games. To receive tickets, go to one of the ticket booths located throughout the festival.
