Station Square in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania is a great place to find restaurants, specialty stores and attractions, right next to Downtown. Located on the South Shore of the Monongahela River, Station Square boasts over 50 establishments where you can eat, shop and discover. LocationPittsburgh is a city of tunnels and bridges, but the main interstates lead to Downtown. Head to downtown on I-279, I-579 or I -376, but follow the signs for PA route 837, West Carson Street, which runs along the Monongahela River. There are ample parking spaces around Station Square, for a fee. The east entrance charges by the hour, and there is a reduction in the rate with a purchase. The west entrance charges a daily rate, and there is a parking garage on the west side. Downtown Pittsburgh is easily accessible by foot over the Smithfield Bridge, right next to Station Square. Restaurants and NightclubsThere are over 20 spots to dine, munch, or sip your favorite beverage. The upscale Bar Louie and Grand Concourse offer fine dining, while Houlihan’s, Hooters and the Ref’s Sports Bar offer fun dining in a casual atmosphere. Buca di Beppo will fill you up with Italian fare and Joe’s Crab Shack is known for seafood. Kiku Japanese Restaurant and Margarita Mamas need no explanation, and the Hard Rock Café is well known as a place for good food with a musical décor. Fondue is the order of the day at The Melting Pot, and Pittsburgh Rare will serve your steak done the way you like it. You can grab an Iron City Beer at the Buckhead Saloon, Gandy Dancer Saloon or the Red Star Tavern, and they have other selections as well. Other choices for fun and drinks include the Matrix Nightclub, Saddle Ridge, The Palm Bar and Sesame Inn. For a quick bite, Napoli’s Pizza is now open, and Starbucks and the Cool Beans Coffee Company offer your favorite coffee drinks and pastries. ShoppingStation Square comprises four areas, East Warehouse, Bessimer Court, Commerce Court and the Freight House Shops. You will find many different specialty stores, where you can find treasures and souvenirs, including jewelry, books, sports apparel, or a practical item from the Soxx Shop. AttractionsBoth the Duquesne and Monongahela Incline stations are near Station Square. You can hire a horse and carriage for a ride about the Square, and the Gateway Clipper boat ride boards here. Just Ducky Tours takes you on an amphibious craft which rides on both land and water. Recently added are Segway tours, a personal travel vehicle unlike any other mode of transportation. For the less adventurous, there is the Funny Bone Comedy Club. The outdoor fountain is set to music and is fun for all ages, and the river walkway adjoins the shopping center. Whether you make it a full day of fun, or night on the town, Station Square gives you many options in a convenient location.
